Rated Competition Standard

A UPF-rated result is a sanctioned competitive observation that meets the federation’s identity, format, reporting and integrity requirements.

What Makes a Result Rated

A result must identify the competitors through valid UPF Player IDs, use an approved discipline and format, be recorded through an authorized scoresheet or approved import, and be finalized under the sanctioning rules that applied to the event.

Game-Level Reporting

When the format allows it, individual game winners are recorded in addition to the final match score. Game-level reporting provides a stronger ability signal than a simple match win or loss and supports more accurate rating development over time.

Known Opponents

Rated observations require both sides of the competition to be identified. A result against an unknown or duplicate player cannot be treated as equivalent to a result against a verified UPF profile until identity is resolved.

Approved Sources

Native sources include UPL and participating league scoresheets, Event Commander tournaments and federation championships. Approved imports can also contribute when the source, player identities and result details are sufficiently reliable. Imported data remains labeled by source.

Finalization

Only finalized results enter rating calculation. A live or incomplete scoresheet can affect event administration but does not become a rating observation until the result is confirmed and closed.

Corrections

A corrected rated result is handled through an amendment. The original observation remains traceable, the correction records its reason and authority, and affected ratings or standings can be recalculated from the corrected source record.

Unrated Competition

UPF technology can support exhibitions, practice formats, social competition and other events that are not designated as rated. Those results can remain in event history without altering the UPF Rating.

Integrity Review

Unusual performance, identity conflicts or data anomalies can pause rating treatment while the record is reviewed. A review flag is not itself a finding of misconduct.

UPF standard: A rating changes because of verified competition, not because someone manually decides what a player should be.
