UPF Tournament Directors protect the integrity of sanctioned competition by applying published eligibility, scoring, reporting and closeout standards consistently.
Director Responsibilities
Directors are responsible for accurate registration, player identity, event eligibility, published format/race information, fair administration, result finalization, payout reporting and event closeout.
Use the UPF Player Record
Existing members are selected from the UPF database rather than recreated. New players are registered through the provisional-profile process so their future league and tournament history remains connected to the same identity.
Publish Before Play
Class eligibility, discipline, format, race structure, seeding method, entry fee, payout treatment, rated status, Tour status and any Tour contribution are established before registration closes.
Do Not Override Classification Informally
A Director does not lower a player simply to fill a field or raise a player to create a preferred matchup. Classification exceptions require the federation review process or an event format that explicitly permits the player to participate.
Finalize Accurate Scores
Only verified results are finalized. When game-level scoring is available, the director ensures the completed scoresheet reflects the actual match before it enters the Competition Ledger.
Corrections Require a Record
If a result must change after finalization, the Director submits or approves an amendment according to assigned authority. Corrections are not made by silently replacing the original result.
Financial Closeout
Sanctioned Tour events reconcile the published prize structure, UPF-added money, sponsor additions and any Tour contribution. Outstanding obligations remain visible until settled or formally adjusted.
Director Standing
Repeated reporting failures, unresolved financial obligations, identity manipulation or material violations of sanctioning standards can affect a Director’s authority to host UPF-sanctioned competition. Administrative review distinguishes correctable mistakes from intentional misconduct.
UPF standard: The Director runs the event; the federation record protects what happened.
