A UPF player begins with one identity, one evidence review and one competitive record that follows the player through leagues, tournaments and championships.
1. Create or Confirm Your UPF Player ID
If you already appear in a UPF-sanctioned league or event, use the existing record rather than creating another identity. New players receive one UPF Player ID that remains attached to their competitive history.
2. Add Rating Evidence
Submit the strongest competitive evidence available: FargoRate, APA, TAP, Digital Pool results, tournament history or other recognized records. UPF considers source quality, match volume, recency and verification rather than relying on a single label.
3. Receive a Provisional Rating and Class
Your starting UPF Rating combines credible evidence into a common estimate with an internal confidence measure. Your verified rating and confidence determine the class for which you are eligible.
4. Play Rated Competition
UPL league scoresheets and UPF-sanctioned tournament results add native observations to your record. Game-level results are used when the format provides them.
5. Let Your Rating Develop
New players can move more quickly because the federation has less evidence. As your native history grows, the rating becomes more stable and UPF results become the primary authority for current ability.
6. Earn Tour Points
Tour Points come from sanctioned accomplishment, not from the rating itself. Your class determines where you compete; your event performance determines how you rank within that Tour.
7. Qualify and Advance
Tour standings, sanctioned activity and published championship requirements determine qualification. Promotion to a higher class opens a stronger competitive level rather than serving as a penalty for improvement.
